Purchase Overhead Fiber Optic Ground Wire

Background

Lincoln Electric System (LES) is seeking bids for the purchase of overhead fiber optic ground wire (OPGW) to enhance their transmission line infrastructure. The OPGW will be utilized for transmission line relaying and substation communications, supporting LES's mission to provide reliable electrical services.

Work Details

The contract involves furnishing and delivering 16,405 feet of OPGW with 96 fibers, specifically designed with a round aluminum buffer tube housing cable diameter between 0.633" and 0.647". The OPGW must conform to the latest LES specifications and standards including ANSI, IEEE, ASTM, ASME, REA, and EIA. The successful bidder must ensure that the OPGW is delivered on a flatbed trailer loaded from the side. The cable must be continuous without splices and should include optical fibers that are ITU-T G.652 revision D or higher, specifically Corning mode SMF-28 Ultra and SMF-28 Ultra 200. The vendor is required to provide certified test reports confirming compliance with specifications, as well as detailed installation manuals and maintenance documentation post-award.

The delivery date for the OPGW is expected to be specified in the bid response, with payment terms set at Net 30 days after receipt of equipment.

Bidder Requirements
