Background The National Park Service (NPS) is issuing this solicitation for Hazard Tree Pruning services at Capitol Reef National Park, specifically within the Fruita Historic District. The goal of this contract is to ensure the safety and health of the park's trees, which have been identified as potentially hazardous based on observations by park staff. Work Details The contractor will perform the following tasks: 1. Prune and remove a total of 44 identified trees that are deemed hazardous. This includes: - Full removal of 10 trees, with stump grinding required for 6 of these; - Removal of deadwood from 34 trees, with structural pruning needed for 10 of these to enhance tree health; - Stump grinding for an additional 39 existing stumps throughout the district, totaling 45 stumps to be removed; - All deadwood greater than 3 inches in diameter must be removed back to a living junction according to industry standards; - Cleanup operations will include hauling off all limbs, trunks, cut sections, and chip piles; - Restoration of work areas to their previous condition by hand raking vehicle tracks and reseeding disturbed areas with a specified turf mix.
