Background

The City of Tucson is seeking proposals from qualified vendors to provide comprehensive athletic training services for the Tucson Fire Department and the Tucson Police Department. The goal is to establish contracts with vendors capable of delivering injury prevention, fitness, evaluation, treatment, rehabilitation, and return-to-duty support services. These services aim to support the physical readiness, safety, and performance of City employees while reducing work-related injuries and promoting overall wellness.

Work Details

The contractor will provide the following services:

1) Injury Prevention and Education

Collaborate with TFD and TPD on injury prevention initiatives, conduct assessments to identify injury risks, develop tailored injury prevention programs, and provide education on proper exercise techniques.

2) Injury Evaluation and Treatment

Provide on-site evaluations for acute injuries, document findings, develop treatment plans, and utilize therapeutic modalities for recovery.

3) Rehabilitation Programs

Design rehabilitation programs for safe return to work, monitor progress, and coordinate care with medical professionals.

4) Fitness Programs

Develop fitness plans to enhance performance and provide guidance on nutrition and wellness.

5) Athletic Trainer Workflow Process

Implement a process for evaluations and documentation of injuries.

6) Medical Oversight

Services must be supervised by a licensed physician in compliance with Arizona regulations. 7) Compliance with HIPAA regulations regarding Protected Health Information (PHI).

Place of Performance

Services will be performed at designated Tucson Fire Department (TFD) and Tucson Police Department (TPD) facilities within the City of Tucson.

Bidder Requirements

Bidders must have current certification from the National Athletic Trainers' Association Board of Certification (NATA BOC), possess a valid state license to practice as an Athletic Trainer in Arizona, have a minimum of three years of experience in public safety or similar environments, and demonstrate strong knowledge in injury prevention and rehabilitation.
