Culvert 951 Replacement-Design

Background

Miami County is a local government in east-central Kansas, part of the Kansas City metropolitan area, dedicated to serving over 34,000 residents. The county operates multiple agencies and departments, including a Road and Bridge Division responsible for infrastructure projects. The Culvert 951 Replacement project aims to replace a damaged culvert on 287th Street, funded by Miami County Special Bridge Funds. The current structure was closed due to scour damage, necessitating design engineering services from a KDOT pre-qualified firm.

Work Details

The selected consultant will provide comprehensive survey and design services for the Culvert 951 replacement project, which includes: 1. A completed survey in AutoCAD 2012 (or newer) format, including topographic designs and utility locations. 2. Hydrologic calculations for various storm events (2, 5, 10, 25, 50, and 100 year storms) as required by the Division of Water Resources. 3. Preparation of field check plans based on preliminary reports and conducting field-checks with county personnel. 4. Geologic exploration recommendations based on three price quotes from qualified firms; the exploration company will be selected by the county. 5. Detailed construction plans for bidding and project implementation conforming to KDOT standards, including quantity calculations of bid items. 6. Submission of necessary permits for regulatory bodies such as the Division of Water Resources and Corps of Engineers. 7. Legal descriptions for any required easements stamped by a Registered Land Surveyor.

Period of Performance

The contract is expected to be effective for approximately one year from the date of notice of award.

Place of Performance

The work will be performed at the site of Culvert 951 located on 287th Street, approximately 0.25 miles east of Oxford Road in Miami County, Kansas.

Bidder Requirements

Bidders must be KDOT pre-qualified firms capable of providing the required survey and design services.
