Background The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service (USFWS) requires professional historical research and documentation services to produce a comprehensive written report capturing the first 25 years of the Detroit River International Wildlife Refuge in recognition of its 25th anniversary in 2026. This project will also support activities associated with the 20th anniversary of the International Wildlife Refuge Alliance. Work Details The contractor shall research, develop, and deliver a publication-quality historical report that documents the founding, development, operations, partnerships, milestones, and major accomplishments of the Refuge from its inception through 2026. The contractor must demonstrate experience conducting professional historical research, archival review, or organizational history projects. Knowledge of natural resources management, conservation history, or public-sector environmental programs is required. The contractor must also have the ability to review, analyze, and synthesize diverse records into a cohesive written narrative. Period of Performance The contract will be performed from June 26, 2026 to December 26, 2026. Place of Performance Detroit River International Wildlife Refuge, John D. Dingell Jr. Visitor Center, 5437 W. Jefferson Ave., Trenton, MI 48183.
