Background

Barnstable County is seeking proposals from qualified vendors for a Safety Risk Consultant to support its mission of ensuring workplace safety and risk management within the county government and its municipalities. The goal of this contract is to enhance safety protocols, compliance with regulations, and overall risk management strategies across Barnstable County.

Work Details

The consultant will work collaboratively with the Barnstable County Department of Health and Environment, Human Resources Department, and Administration on various program areas including: 1. Supporting existing environmental health, safety, and risk management efforts within Barnstable County government (48% of time and budget). 2. Supporting environmental health, safety, and risk management efforts with municipal and public entities in the county’s 15 towns (28% of time and budget). 3. Developing a Risk Management and Safety Structure (RMSS) for Barnstable County government (24% of time and budget). Specific duties include: - Reviewing current legislation related to workplace safety. - Developing policies to comply with regulatory requirements. - Advising on the design and implementation of safety programs. - Coordinating accident investigations. - Conducting training on safety topics including OSHA training programs. - Engaging with county administration for preliminary training on risk management concepts. - Assessing existing systems for effectiveness in risk reduction.

Period of Performance

The contract is expected to begin on July 1, 2026, and end on June 30, 2029.
