Installation of Data and Voice Communications Cabling for Barrow County School System

Background

The Barrow County School System is seeking proposals for the installation of data and voice communications cabling as part of their Information Technology Services. This initiative aims to enhance the communication infrastructure within the school system, ensuring reliable connectivity across various facilities. The contract is intended for the fiscal year ending June 30, 2027, with potential for renewal.

Work Details

The contractor will provide low voltage data cabling services on an 'as needed' basis, specifically focusing on: 1. Installation of Category 6 and Category 6A cabling, including: - Category 6 cable consisting of four pair 23 AWG solid copper conductors insulated with plenum-rated material (blue color). - Category 6A cable for ceiling-mounted data cabling (yellow color). 2. Installation of data jacks, patch panels, and other necessary components as specified in the RFP. 3. Testing and certification of all installed cabling to meet EIA/TIA/BICSI standards, including comprehensive testing parameters such as length, delay skew, impedance, resistance, capacitance, attenuation, near-end cross talk, and return loss. 4. Provision of a warranty covering parts and labor for a period of 25 years. 5. Compliance with insurance requirements including public liability insurance and worker’s compensation.

Period of Performance

The contract will be performed over a term of up to one calendar year from the date of award and shall expire on June 30th, 2027. It may be renewed upon mutual agreement for a maximum of two additional years.

Place of Performance

Work will be performed at various schools and facilities within the Barrow County School System located in Barrow County, Georgia.

Bidder Requirements

Bidders must possess a valid low-voltage license issued by the State Construction Industry Licensing Board. They must also provide proof of insurance that meets specified limits for public liability and worker’s compensation. Additionally, vendors are required to submit a comprehensive list of references demonstrating prior experience with similar projects.
