Background The project is initiated by the National Park Service, specifically for the Great Smoky Mountains National Park. The goal of the contract is to improve the wastewater system at Newfound Gap, which is over 80 years old and functionally obsolete. This improvement is essential for maintaining environmental standards and ensuring proper waste management in the park. Work Details The work includes several key tasks: - Addition of a 5,000-gallon septic tank; - Installation of a flow diversion manhole; - Replacement of existing collection lines with HDPE lines through pipe bursting; - Replacement of existing manholes; - Replacement of dosing tank components; - Replacement of components of disposal field valve boxes; - Removal and replacement of security fence and gate around the disposal field; - Restoration of disturbed areas resulting from project work.
