Background The USDA-APHIS National Wildlife Research Center, located at the Mississippi Field Station, is seeking to replace netting at its research aviary. The mission of the USDA is to protect and enhance the nation's agricultural resources and wildlife. This contract aims to ensure the aviary is equipped with durable netting that can withstand various weather conditions, thereby supporting ongoing research activities. Work Details The scope of work includes the complete removal and disposal of old netting and the installation of new heavy-duty, UV-stable, weather-resistant netting for both the exterior and interior of the aviary. The required specifications for the netting are as follows: - Total netting required: approximately 70,000 square feet (60,000 sq ft for exterior and 10,000 sq ft for interior). - Mesh size: 1-3/4” x 1-3/4”. - The new netting must be fully attached along existing fence lines and support points with no gaps exceeding the stated mesh size. - The replacement netting will be #36 three-strand twisted knotted netting, UV and abrasion coated black with a 3/8” rope border on all edges. - A warranty of 5 years covering UV degradation and manufacturing defects is required, offering repair or pro-rated replacement for any failures under normal use. Period of Performance The contractor is expected to commence work within five calendar days after receiving the notice to proceed and must complete all work within 30 days after that notice. Place of Performance The construction projects will be performed at the USDA APHIS National Wildlife Research Center, Mississippi Field Station, located at 2745 West Line Road, Starkville, MS 39762.
