Background This Sources Sought Notice is issued by the Department of Veterans Affairs Network Contracting Office (NCO) 10 for Medical Officer of the Day Services at the Battle Creek VA Medical Center in Battle Creek, Michigan. The goal of this contract is to identify businesses capable of providing qualified medical personnel to deliver hospital medicine services that meet or exceed national standards. Work Details The contractor shall provide competent and qualified physicians who are Board Certified/Board Eligible in Internal Medicine or Family Practice. Responsibilities include: signing in and out during attendance, ensuring care meets standards set by recognized bodies such as The Society of Hospital Medicine and The Joint Commission, maintaining compliance with privacy laws including HIPAA, documenting care in the VA electronic health record system, and performing direct patient care approximately 95% of the time. Physicians will admit and coordinate care for hospitalized patients, conduct evaluations and treatments, manage discharge planning, and ensure timely communication with primary care providers. They must also adhere to quality assurance measures including patient safety reporting and documentation standards.
