Roof covering repairs

Background

The City of Covington is seeking bids for roof covering repairs at the historic Covington Train Depot located at 149 S Maple Ave, Covington, VA 24426. The goal of this contract is to engage a qualified contractor to remove, repair, and replace a portion of the roof covering due to issues with misalignment causing active leaks. The project aims to preserve the historic nature of the structure by reusing existing materials where feasible.

Work Details

The contractor shall provide all necessary equipment, labor, materials, and services to replace the roof covering on the eastern portion of the building. The work includes: - Removal and replacement of existing tile type roof covering. - Reuse as much of the existing materials as possible. - All replacement materials must be pre-approved to match existing roof covering in appearance and color. - Installation of a product to discourage bird roosting on braces under the roof eave made from stainless steel or other approved material. - Proper disposal of all excess materials in accordance with federal, state, and local laws. - Compliance with safety regulations including OSHA standards during demolition and removal processes.

Period of Performance

The contract period will commence upon execution and is expected to be completed within 90 days.

Bidder Requirements

Bidders must be organized or authorized to transact business in Virginia and provide their Virginia State Corporation Commission (SCC) Identification Number. They must also have a valid Commonwealth of Virginia Contractor’s license and submit proof of Workers’ Compensation insurance coverage. Bidders are required to provide at least three commercial references for similar work and complete a Workers’ Compensation Certificate of Coverage.
