Background

The City of Santa Monica's Water Resources Division is seeking a United States Environmental Protection Agency (USEPA) approved laboratory to provide Microbial Source Tracking (MST) for Human (HF183), Avian (GFD), and Gull (GULL2) genetic markers using polymerase chain reaction (PCR) assays. This initiative aims to monitor and analyze bacterial loads in water samples collected from the Santa Monica Pier, contributing to the city's environmental protection efforts.

Work Details

The contractor will perform MST analysis on water samples provided by City staff, specifically targeting Human (HF183), Avian (GFD), and Gull (GULL2) genetic markers. The laboratory is required to supply a complete sampling kit that includes:

Sampling Equipment

- Reagents - Coolers - Bottles - Pump

Shipping Labels

All costs associated with these items must be included in the bid. The laboratory must process the samples and return provisional results within three weeks of receipt. Additionally, a report detailing the presence or absence of the specified genetic markers and their concentrations must be provided, along with any necessary QA/QC reporting.

Period of Performance

The contract will commence upon award and is expected to continue as needed based on project requirements. Specific timelines for sample collection and reporting are outlined in the solicitation.

Place of Performance

Services will be performed in Santa Monica, California, specifically around the Santa Monica Pier where water samples will be collected.
