Background The Department of Veterans Affairs, specifically the Network Contracting Office (NCO) 21, is issuing this solicitation for the staffing of Cardiothoracic Physician Assistants (CTPAs). The goal of this contract is to provide qualified personnel to support the Veterans Affairs Medical Center (VAMC) in San Francisco, California, ensuring that patients receive high-quality care in cardiothoracic surgery. This contract aims to fulfill staffing needs while adhering to the standards set forth by the Veterans Health Administration (VHA). Work Details The contractor shall provide 1.0 Full-Time Equivalent (FTE) Cardiothoracic Physician Assistant. The CTPA is required to work a maximum of 6 hours per day, two days per week at the San Francisco Veterans Affairs Health Care System (SFVAHCS). The contractor must ensure that all CTPAs possess full and unrestricted licenses issued in any State, Territory, or Commonwealth of the United States or the District of Columbia. The CTPA must demonstrate technical proficiency in various skills necessary for cardiothoracic surgery, including but not limited to endoscopic vein harvesting and robotic thoracic surgery assistance. Credentialing and privileging through the Medical Staff Office is required, and ongoing competency assessments will be conducted. Continuing Medical Education (CME) requirements must also be met by the contractor's personnel. Period of Performance The period of performance for this contract spans from July 1, 2026, to June 30, 2031. It includes a base year from July 1, 2026, to June 30, 2027, with four option years extending through June 30, 2031. Place of Performance The contract will be performed at the San Francisco Veterans Affairs Health Care System (SFVAHCS), located in San Francisco, California.
