The purpose of this RFI is to obtain industry feedback. A list of questions for consideration is provided in the attachment. Responses to this RFI will be used by the government to make appropriate strategies and acquisition decisions. Please do not submit any proprietary information as such information will not be protected. See attachment for full description of requirement and questions for industry input.
Background The U.S. Air Force, specifically the 772 ESS/PKD at Tyndall Air Force Base, is seeking industry feedback through this Request for Information (RFI) regarding a proposed brand-name Class Justification and Approval (J&A) for the standardization of Fire Alarm Control Panels (FACP) at various installations. The goal of this initiative is to allow each USAF installation, both within and outside the contiguous United States, to select a standard brand of FACP based on their existing inventory when new or replacement units are needed. This standardization effort aims to streamline procurement processes and maintain consistency across installations. The current Class J&A was approved in December 2021 for five years, and the USAF intends to renew it for an additional five years (FY27 through FY32). Work Details The RFI seeks feedback on the proposed standardization of Fire Alarm Control Panels (FACP). Interested parties are encouraged to provide insights on the following: 1. Identification as a FACP manufacturer, supplier, or both. 2. Comments on the proposed Class J&A. 3. Data availability on FACP sales to the U.S. Air Force or other federal agencies. 4. Access levels for proprietary diagnostic software required for maintenance. 5. Availability of OEM-approved advanced maintenance and repair training for government technicians. 6. Processes that enhance parts availability and timely repairs. 7. Data suggesting that FACP standardization may not be the best practice for reducing total lifecycle costs. Place of Performance Tyndall Air Force Base, Florida, with potential applicability to USAF installations worldwide.
