Background

Clemson University is seeking a vendor to provide equipment and labor for the removal and purchase of scrap metal and metal-containing equipment from designated campus locations. The goal of this contract is to generate revenue for the university while ensuring efficient and compliant removal of scrap materials. The contract will be awarded to the Offeror providing the highest overall revenue return based on the pricing structure outlined in Attachment A. This contract will last for one year with an option to renew for up to four additional years, with an anticipated award date of July 1, 2026.

Work Details

The contractor will be responsible for removing scrap material from Clemson University facilities, which includes: 1. Scrap material limited to equipment and metal debris presented by Clemson University Surplus Property Division or Recycling Department. 2. Removal of scrap material 'as is,' which may include isolated metal or metal attached to other materials such as wood or plastic found in desks, appliances, computers, etc. 3. Removal must occur within one business day of notification unless otherwise approved by the university. 4. The contractor must periodically empty all contents of the scrap material bin as notified by the university departments. 5. The contractor's capabilities must include handling heavy items (up to four tons), dismantling items if necessary, and ensuring minimal disruption to university operations. 6. Facilities must include containers for collection, transportation means to certified scales, and compliance with sorting requirements for different metal types.

Period of Performance

The contract will be performed over a period of one year starting from July 1, 2026, with options for renewal extending up to four additional years.

Place of Performance

The services will be performed at designated locations on Clemson University's main campus.

Bidder Requirements

Offerors must provide evidence of required insurance coverage and licenses prior to performance. They are required to submit a written quotation detailing all information necessary for evaluation and enter pricing into the online bidding system. Successful Offerors must register as suppliers in Clemson University's buyWays system within three business days after receiving an invitation.
