The City of Watsonville, located in southern Santa Cruz County, is seeking proposals from qualified firms to provide professional fire prevention and fire protection support services for its Fire Department. The city aims to establish a sustainable and compliant fire prevention program that meets current operational needs while also developing long-term recommendations for program administration. Work Details

The selected consultant will assist the City in establishing a systematic fire prevention program, which includes: conducting annual fire and life safety inspections for approximately 2,700 occupancies (including educational facilities, residential occupancies like hotels and assisted living facilities, and commercial businesses); developing an inspection schedule and tracking process; coordinating inspection scheduling, documentation, billing, fee collection support, and record management; assisting with the migration of fire prevention records into the City’s ImageTrend software; reviewing existing inspection records; developing standardized procedures and workflows; providing recommendations for operational efficiencies; offering plan review services related to construction and development plans for compliance with fire safety codes; evaluating current operations to develop a comprehensive staffing model; and preparing a final Fire Prevention Program Assessment report.

Period of Performance

The contract will commence upon execution and is expected to continue until all services are completed as per the agreed schedule.

The services will be performed within the City of Watsonville, California.

Bidder Requirements

Consultants must comply with the City’s standard consultant agreement, including insurance coverage requirements (Errors & Omissions up to $1 million, Commercial Liability up to $1 million per occurrence, Business Automobile Liability up to $1 million per occurrence), Workers’ Compensation in statutory amounts, and must not have any conflict of interest with regard to other work performed for the City. Additionally, consultants must have experience in providing similar services.
