Design Services for Williamson Boulevard Widening (Madeline Avenue to Town West Boulevard)

Work Requested

The County of Volusia is requesting professional consultants to provide comprehensive Professional Engineering Design Services for the widening of Williamson Boulevard. The scope of work includes: - Preparation of a complete set of construction contract plans, specifications, and special provisions (if necessary) for the project. - Widening Williamson Boulevard from a 2-lane rural section to a 4-lane divided rural section, specifically from Madeline Avenue (heading south) to Town West Boulevard. - Ensuring the new section matches and ties in with the existing 4-lane typical section at Madeline Avenue (heading north) to Beville Road. - All improvements are to be confined within the Williamson Boulevard right-of-way. - Widening the existing bridge (Bridge No. 794095) over I-95 to accommodate the expanded corridor. - Modifications to full median openings at Town Park Drive, Willow Run Boulevard, McGinnis Avenue/Hockney Court, and Town West Boulevard. - Evaluating the feasibility of leaving the existing bridge (Bridge No. 794095) in place and reconfiguring the existing lane striping to provide two traffic lanes and shoulders for northbound traffic. - Design and construction of a new bridge on the west side of the existing bridge to provide two traffic lanes and shoulders for southbound traffic. - Extensive coordination with FDOT District Five for review of all construction-related documents.

Background

This contract is part of a project to increase the capacity of the existing Williamson Boulevard corridor. The improvements focus on expanding the roadway and associated infrastructure to better accommodate current and future traffic demands.

Contract Requirements

Only roadway improvements within the Williamson Boulevard right-of-way are included in this project. The project specifically requires the widening of the existing bridge (Bridge No. 794095) over I-95 and modifications to several median openings. Consideration must be given to maintaining the existing bridge for northbound traffic and constructing a new bridge for southbound traffic.
