Background

The City of Danville, Virginia, is issuing this Invitation for Bid (IFB) for the procurement of water pipe as part of the Trotter’s Creek Water Pipe Order project. The goal of this contract is to supply necessary materials to support the city's water infrastructure, ensuring compliance with relevant standards and specifications.

Work Details

The contractor will be responsible for procuring and delivering 8,500 feet of 20-inch ductile iron water pipe and 700 feet of 24-inch high-density polyethylene (HDPE) water pipe. The ductile iron pipe must conform to ANSI/AWWA C151 standards with single rubber gasket joints per ANSI/AWWA C111, and be Class 350 wall thickness per ANSI/AWWA C150. Each length must be marked with weight, thickness, class designation, manufacturer's mark, and year cast. The interior should be double cement lined with asphaltic seal coating according to ANSI/AWWA C104 and NSF/ANSI 61. The HDPE pipe must meet AWWA standard C906 and other specified ASTM standards, joined by zero leak-rate thermal butt-fusion or approved mechanical joints. It must have a working pressure rating of at least 200 psi and be marked according to AWWA C906.

Period of Performance

The work is expected to commence within five consecutive calendar days after the issuance of a written Notice to Proceed by the City. All materials must be on-site by July 15, 2026.

Place of Performance

Delivery of materials will be made to the laydown yard located at 3458 Berry Hill Road, Danville, VA 24541.

Bidder Requirements

Bidders must provide evidence of practical knowledge and financial resources necessary for completing the work. They are required to submit a Performance Bond and Labor & Material Bond in an amount equal to one hundred percent (100%) of the contract amount within ten calendar days after receipt of contract documents. Bidders must also comply with local business licensing requirements and provide their Virginia SCC registration number.
