Background

The City of Sioux Falls, South Dakota, is seeking formal bids for the 2026 Miscellaneous Drainage Improvements project, which is estimated to cost $2,082,000 and will be funded through CIP No. 11023. The project aims to enhance storm sewer and drainage systems within the city to improve water management and reduce flooding risks.

Work Details

The contract includes various construction tasks such as mobilization, clearing and grubbing, removal of existing structures (including concrete curb and gutter, drop inlets, junction boxes, storm sewer pipes), traffic control measures, erosion control practices, grading and surfacing work, installation of new storm sewer pipes (including various sizes of RCP), water mains, fire hydrants, and related utility adjustments. Specific quantities include: - 2,515 ft of concrete curb and gutter removal; - 43 drop inlets; - 1,575 ft of 18" RCP installation; - 102 ft of 6" C900 PVC water main; - various other items detailed in the proposal form.

Period of Performance

The contractor is expected to commence work upon contract award with substantial completion deadlines varying by location: - Locations Q, R & T-2 by July 31, 2026; - Locations B through L and Location R by October 30, 2026; - Locations M through Q by September 17, 2027. Full completion deadlines are set for August 7 and November 13 for certain locations in 2026 and October 1 for others in 2027.

Place of Performance

The work will be performed in various locations throughout the City of Sioux Falls, South Dakota.

Bidder Requirements

Bidders must be registered as a vendor on the e-procurement platform. A bid bond or certified check is required for bids over $100,000. Performance and payment bonds are mandatory for contracts totaling $100,000 or more. Bidders must comply with local preference laws favoring South Dakota residents. Insurance requirements include workers' compensation coverage with specified limits and general liability insurance naming the City as an additional insured.
