Design Build Services For Upgrades And Preventive Maintenance Of Ten BQE (I-278) Bridges, Queens And Kings Counties, NYC

Background

The New York State Department of Transportation (NYSDOT) is seeking to engage firms for design-build services aimed at upgrades and preventive maintenance of ten BQE (I-278) bridges located in Kings and Queens Counties, NYC. The estimated value of this contract is expected to be between $30-40 million.

Work Details

The project involves the design, fabrication, and installation of two inspection and maintenance travelers on the Kosciuszko Bridges. It also includes repairs, modifications, and/or realignment of existing traveler rails to ensure proper functioning of the new travelers. Preventive and corrective maintenance repairs will be conducted on the Kosciuszko Bridge approach spans as well as eight other bridges in the vicinity. Specific work on each bridge includes: - For BIN 1079700 (Kings County): Deck sealing, concrete deck crack sealing, reset bearings (isolated locations), and partial depth deck repairs. - For BIN 1079710 (Kings County): Deck sealing, concrete deck crack sealing, and partial depth deck repairs. - For BIN 1079721 (Kings County): Deck sealing, concrete deck crack sealing, joint resealing, and partial depth deck repairs. - For BIN 1079731 & 1079732 (Kings County): Traveler installation & rail realignment/repairs as needed, deck sealing, concrete deck crack sealing, joint resealing, reset bearings (isolated locations), and partial depth deck repairs. - For BIN 1079741 & 1079742 (Queens County): Deck sealing, concrete deck crack sealing, and partial depth deck repairs. - For BIN 1079751 & 1079752 (Queens County): Deck sealing, concrete deck crack sealing, and partial depth deck repairs. - For BIN 1079770 (Queens County): Deck sealing, concrete deck crack sealing, and partial depth deck repairs.

Period of Performance

The Request for Qualifications (RFQ) is anticipated to be issued in June 2026 with a Final Request for Proposals (RFP) scheduled for November 2026.

Place of Performance

The work will be performed on ten BQE bridges located in Kings and Queens Counties in New York City.

Bidder Requirements

Firms interested in this contract must submit a Statement of Qualifications (SOQ) as part of the RFQ process. The selection will follow a Best Value process evaluating firms based on their ability to manage the Design-Build process effectively.
