Regional Performing Arts Center in Downtown Bellevue

The City of Bellevue is seeking proposals for the development of a Regional Performing Arts Center in Downtown Bellevue. The scope of work includes: - Planning, designing, and constructing a state-of-the-art performing arts facility - Addressing the needs of a growing and diverse community by providing a venue for arts and culture events that reflect the cultural backgrounds of Eastside residents - Integrating the Performing Arts Center with the upcoming expansion of the Bellevue Convention Center - Supporting the increasing demand for cultural offerings driven by population growth, new housing, and job creation in the area Who is Requesting: This solicitation is issued by the City of Bellevue.

Background

As the Puget Sound region continues to expand, there is a heightened interest in arts and culture events on the Eastside of Lake Washington, particularly those that showcase the community's diverse cultural backgrounds. Bellevue is experiencing increased pressures from a growing population of workers, residents, and tourists who are attracted to the city's parks, schools, and cultural amenities. Recent updates to Comprehensive Plans for Eastside cities have projected capacity for an additional 92,000 housing units and 165,000 jobs by 2044. Since the early 1980s, studies and nonprofit partners have consistently indicated that Bellevue and the Eastside would benefit from a Regional Performing Arts Center. However, previous privately-led initiatives have struggled to gain traction. The planned expansion of the Bellevue Convention Center by the Bellevue Convention Center Authority (BCCA) now offers a unique opportunity to combine efforts and realize this vision.

Contract Requirements

Respondents must demonstrate experience in planning, designing, and constructing performing arts facilities. Proposals should address how the project will meet the needs of Bellevue's growing and diverse community, and how it will be integrated with the Bellevue Convention Center expansion.
