Summary (Newest Update)

Background The Landsat 10 (L10) mission is part of the Sustainable Land Imaging (SLI) Program, a collaborative effort between NASA and the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) under the Department of the Interior (DOI). The L10 mission aims to provide continuous satellite coverage of Earth's continental surfaces, following the success of previous Landsat missions that began with the launch of Landsat 1 in 1972. The mission is designed to ensure that Landsat-like data is available to the USGS National Satellite Land Remote Sensing Data Archive (NSLRSDA) for at least five years. Work Details The USGS is seeking information for a possible Mission Operations Center (MOC) for the Landsat 10 project due to significant changes in mission architecture. The revised L10 architecture now consists of a single observatory with a targeted launch in late 2031. The RFI seeks updated information on MOC development, flight operations readiness, and long-term operations costing based on this new implementation approach. Specifically, the USGS is looking for: 1. L10 MOC architecture solutions that may include updates to prior submissions or new proposals addressing the revised implementation approach. This can involve existing facilities modified to support L10 operations or dedicated MOC capabilities/facilities utilizing commercially available solutions. A highly available and resilient MOC architecture is required to ensure safe satellite operations, with a preference for systems that allow flexible future maintenance approaches. 2. Revised or new rough order-of-magnitude (ROM) costs for L10 MOC development, operations readiness, and long-term sustainment, with a template provided by USGS for cost information.
