Background The Edward Hines Jr. Veterans Affairs Hospital (EHVAH) is seeking to establish an Indefinite Delivery Indefinite Quantity (IDIQ) contract for asbestos abatement and related activities. The Engineering Service’s mission is to oversee and manage the environment of care related to the physical infrastructure and base plant operations at the hospital, ensuring safety for patients, visitors, staff, and administrative employees. The goal of this project is to develop task orders against this IDIQ contract specifically for asbestos abatement. Work Details The contractor will provide all labor, materials, equipment, tools, and qualified supervision necessary to accomplish each task order related to asbestos abatement. Key tasks include: 1) Fire stopping, asbestos abatement, re-insulation, and hazardous substance removal work on real property located at EHVAH; 2) Compliance with VHA Directive 7714 Asbestos Management Program; 3) Adherence to infection control measures during construction; 4) Submission of price proposals detailing individual prices per line item; 5) Conducting pre-bid site visits and submitting Requests for Information (RFIs); 6) Developing a comprehensive Logistics Plan and Construction Security Plan; 7) Attending biweekly construction meetings; 8) Providing final approval documentation including warranties and as-built drawings upon project completion. Period of Performance The contract will encompass a five-year ordering period during which multiple task orders may be issued as needed. Place of Performance The work will be performed at the Edward Hines Jr. Veterans Affairs Hospital located at 5000 South 5th Avenue, Hines, Illinois.
