Background

The Florida Department of Transportation District 2 is seeking qualified bidders to establish a contract for janitorial services at the Lake City Maintenance Office Complex. The goal of this contract is to ensure cleanliness and maintenance of the facilities, supporting the Department's mission of providing safe and efficient transportation systems.

Work Details

The contractor will provide all supervision, labor, equipment, and supplies necessary for janitorial services. Services include nightly cleaning from Monday to Friday starting at 5:00 p.m. The Lake Jeffery Office Complex consists of multiple buildings totaling approximately 56,812 square feet, including offices, common areas, restrooms, and mechanical rooms. Specific tasks include: - Cleaning and sanitizing drinking fountains - Maintaining janitor closets - Spot cleaning walls and doors - Picking up trash outside - Sweeping sidewalks - Emptying trash cans - Cleaning entrance mats - Ensuring stairwells are clean. The contractor must also provide training for staff on safety protocols and proper use of cleaning materials.

Period of Performance

The contract will commence on or about July 1, 2026, and will last for 12 months until June 30, 2027. There is an option to renew the contract for up to three additional years based on satisfactory performance.

Bidder Requirements

Bidders must be licensed to operate in Columbia County and the State of Florida. They must conduct criminal background checks on all employees assigned to the project. The contractor must assign a qualified on-site supervisor with experience in commercial janitorial services. Additionally, bidders must submit a Vendor Certification Regarding Scrutinized Companies Lists with their proposals.
