Background The Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) is issuing this contract for plumbing infrastructure repairs at the Carl T. Hayden VA Medical Center in Phoenix, AZ. The goal of the contract is to replace the entire existing facility water piping due to failures and deterioration, ensuring compliance with all relevant regulations and standards. This project is part of a competitive Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned Small Business (SDVOSB) Set-Aside initiative. Work Details The Design-Build contractor shall provide comprehensive services including site investigations, design analysis, design specifications, construction documents, materials, labor, equipment, supervision, testing, and submittals necessary to fulfill the requirements of this project. Key tasks include: - Replacing the entire existing exterior facility water piping around the main facility buildings due to failures and deterioration. - Utilizing two city water line tie-ins and running piping with shut-off valves to a central location specified by the Phoenix VAMC where a small structure must be built to house VA Required Water Treatment Equipment for Domestic Water. - Installing approximately 2,000 linear feet of 12” pipe; 2,000 linear feet of 10” pipe; 2,500 linear feet of 8” pipe; 2,500 linear feet of 6” pipe; and 4,000 linear feet of 4” pipe. - Installing a minimum of eight shut-off valves for each specified size (12”, 10”, 8”, 6”, and 4”). - Upgrading the main hospital booster pump system including pumps, motors, VFDs and associated piping in the fire pump room. - Ensuring all work complies with VA guidelines and local regulations including proper disposal/recycling of construction waste. Period of Performance The period of performance for this contract is set at a total of 455 calendar days from the Notice to Proceed (NTP), which includes 150 calendar days for design work and reviews followed by 305 calendar days for construction. Place of Performance The construction projects will be performed at the Carl T. Hayden VA Medical Center located at 650 E. Indian School Road, Phoenix, AZ 85012.
