US 219 from Glendale Road to Lake Shore Drive Providing Center Turn Lane, Bicycle Lane, and Pedestrian Refuge Islands

Background

The Maryland Department of Transportation State Highway Administration (MDOT SHA) is issuing this solicitation for a construction project located in Garrett County. The project aims to enhance U.S. 219 by constructing both North and South bound lanes, thereby improving traffic flow and safety for vehicles, cyclists, and pedestrians.

Work Details

The work will consist of the following: (a) Partial and Full Depth Asphalt Patching; (b) Resurfacing; (c) Milling; (d) Pavement Markings; (e) Traffic Barrier; (f) Center Turn Lane; (g) Bicycle Lanes; (h) Pedestrian Refuge Islands. The project spans a total distance of 2.30 miles, starting at the intersection of U.S.-219 and Glendale Rd (MP: 19.56) and extending to the pavement joint north of Lake Shore Dr. (MP: 21.86).

The bid letting is scheduled for June 11, 2026.

Bidder Requirements

Bidders must submit electronic bids through the Bid Express website. No paper bids will be accepted. Bidders are required to register with Bid Express, select MDOT as the referring agency, have a paid subscription to Bid Express’ Internet Bidding Service, obtain an Info Tech Digital ID, and allow at least seven business days for approval and setup. For contracts exceeding $100,000, bid security equal to at least five percent (5%) of the total amount bid is required along with payment and performance bonds.
