Summary (Newest Update)

Background The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) is conducting market research to identify potential sources capable of providing a large-area 2D X-ray flat panel detector suitable for laboratory cone-beam CT (CBCT) and fluoroscopy imaging. The goal of this contract is to support human-sized phantom development, testing, and validation of imaging evaluation methods. This notice is issued for market research purposes only and does not constitute a Request for Proposal (RFP) or any commitment to issue a solicitation or award a contract. Work Details The FDA seeks one (1) large-area 2D X-ray flat panel detector that meets or exceeds the following minimum technical requirements: - Active imaging area: ≥ 42.7 cm × 42.7 cm - Pixel pitch: ≤ 170 µm - MTF: ≥ 50% at 1 lp/mm (full-resolution mode, RQA5 or equivalent) - DQE: ≥ 70% at 0 lp/mm (quantum-limited or vendor equivalent) - Lag (first frame): ≤ 3% - Energy range: 40–150 kVp (or wider) - Fill factor: ≥ 60% - Max entrance dose/frame: ≥ capability for 50 µGy/frame - Fluoroscopy mode frame rate: ≥ 25 fps at ~3×3 binning, large FOV - Fluoro zoom mode frame rate: ≥ 30 fps at ~2×2 binning (if offered) - CBCT projection mode frame rate: ≥ 40 fps at ~4×4 binning - Radiography full-res frame rate: ≥ 4 fps - Cooling type: Air cooling only (no liquid cooling) - Operating temperature range: 19–49°C (or wider) - Relative humidity tolerance: 10–90% non-condensing (or wider) - Atmospheric pressure tolerance: 70–106 kPa (or wider) - Radiation tolerance: ≥ 2,000 Gy (active area) - Weight limit: ≤ 15 kg Delivery requirements include a complete operational kit consisting of the detector, electronics, cables, and documentation, along with a minimum one-year warranty and remote technical support.
