Background The Bibb County School District serves over 20,000 students across 38 sites and 25 departments. It is seeking a qualified contractor to provide fire alarm inspection services. This Request for Proposals (RFP) aims to ensure compliance with safety standards and regulations while maintaining the functionality of fire alarm systems throughout the district. Work Details The contractor will be responsible for conducting inspections of all fire alarm systems within the district by NICET-certified technicians. The inspection services must adhere to the following guidelines: - Manufacturer’s guidelines - NFPA 72 — National Fire Alarm and Signaling Code - State and Local Fire Marshal requirements - All applicable federal, state, and local codes Specific tasks include testing of: - Alarm-initiating devices - Alarm notification appliances - Circuit integrity - Control panels - Backup power systems - HVAC shutdown interfaces - Water flow and tamper switch interfaces - Annunciators Additionally, the contractor must provide documentation including NFPA 72-compliant inspection reports within one week of inspections. Deficiencies must be reported with severity levels identified as critical, urgent, or routine along with written repair quotes. A detailed schedule for inspections starting July 1 each contract year is required to accommodate school activities. Emergency response services must be available 24/7 with defined response times. Period of Performance The contract will have an initial term of one year with options for three additional one-year renewals based on performance and necessity. Place of Performance Services will be performed at various locations within the Bibb County School District in Macon, Georgia. Bidder Requirements Bidders must comply with all federal and state laws regarding employment practices including nondiscrimination policies. Contractors are required to utilize minority business enterprises and local laborers where possible. They must also maintain appropriate insurance coverage including worker’s compensation and general liability insurance as specified in the RFP.
