The Department of Veterans Affairs, Durham Veterans Administration Medical Center (VAMC), is seeking sources to award a firm fixed-price contract for Architect-Engineering (A/E) services. The goal of this contract is to provide complete construction documents, including working drawings, specifications, reports, and construction period services for Project # 558-24-109, titled 'Provide Emergency Power to 3rd Floor,' located at 508 Fulton Street, Durham, North Carolina 27705. This project aims to address deficiencies in the emergency power supply for critical areas within the facility. Work Details: The A/E will be responsible for the following tasks: 1. Design Phase Services: Conduct phasing recommendations, investigative surveys, reports, planning and design work; prepare contract drawings and construction specifications; prepare cost estimates at various design stages (15%, 35%, 65%, 95%, and final). 2. Construction Period Services: Respond to contractor Requests for Information (RFIs), attend pre-bid and post-award conferences, review construction material submittals and shop drawings; conduct site visits during construction; prepare site visit reports; coordinate with project commissioning requirements; review modifications for cost and technical acceptability; participate in final acceptance inspections; prepare punch lists and record drawings based on as-built documentation. 3. Code Analysis: Provide a detailed code analysis and comprehensive review of existing site conditions. The A/E must ensure that designs comply with VA guidelines and applicable codes while addressing the following specific upgrades: - Upgrade electrical systems to allow Air Handling Unit-65 to be powered by the emergency power system. - Upgrade systems for additional laboratory equipment on the 3rd floor. - Upgrade systems for radiology equipment on the 3rd floor. - Evaluate existing emergency lighting in labs and design solutions for continuous operation during power outages.
