Background The National Park Service (NPS) is issuing this solicitation for the rehabilitation of climbing facilities at Camp Muir, located within Mount Rainier National Park (MORA). The goal of this contract is to enhance the climbing facilities by replacing an existing modular building with two new climbing shelters, ensuring they are equipped to withstand the harsh climate conditions of the area. This project aligns with NPS's mission to preserve and protect natural resources while providing recreational opportunities. Work Details The contractor will be responsible for the following tasks: 1. Demolition of existing structures including a modular building, weather station tower, and retaining wall. 2. Site preparation involving excavation and slope stabilization. 3. Installation of geotextile fabric and gabion baskets for site stabilization. 4. Construction of two new steel-framed climbing shelters with weather-resistant barriers, siding, windows, and doors. 5. Installation of electrical conduits for a future photovoltaic (PV) system. 6. Interior construction including bunks, storage shelving, and tables within the shelters. All work must comply with attached specifications. Period of Performance The contract performance period is from August 1, 2026, to July 31, 2027. Place of Performance All construction activities will take place at Camp Muir within Mount Rainier National Park, located in Ashford, Washington.
