Summary (Newest Update)

Background The National Park Service Contracting Operations (ConOps) Central, Nekota Major Acquisition Buying Office is issuing an Invitation for Bid for construction services to replace the septic system at Knife River Historic Indian Village in Stanton, North Dakota. The existing sanitary system has faced issues since its construction in 1992, leading to public health and safety concerns due to backups and damage within the Visitor Center. Work Details The project involves replacing all exterior sanitary plumbing infrastructure associated with the Visitor Center building and select indoor plumbing piping. Key tasks include: - Replacement and construction of new interior sewer piping on both floors of the building; - Reworking the exterior lift station and valve vault with new interior and electrical components interfaced with the existing system; - Installing a new exterior septic system that includes septic tank(s), cleanouts, distribution box, absorption trenches, etc. Previous assessments have identified that the existing internal pipes fail to evacuate solids completely, leading to backups. The basement sewer pipe configuration differs from as-built drawings, causing further complications. Period of Performance Work shall be completed within 120 calendar days of the start date provided on the Notice to Proceed. Work impacting the existing system is scheduled to be completed after Labor Day. Place of Performance Knife River Historic Indian Village, Stanton, North Dakota.
