Background The Military Sealift Command (MSC), Special Mission Program Management Office, located in Norfolk, VA, is seeking information regarding the availability and cost of two U.S. Flag submarine-fendered tugs for the movement of moored training ships at the Nuclear Power Training Unit (NPTU) in Charleston, SC. This request is part of their mission to support naval operations and training activities. Work Details The contractor will provide two U.S. Flag submarine-fendered tugs to assist with the undocking and river transit of the Submarine Moored Training Ship (MTS) 626 from NPTU Goose Creek, SC to Charleston 'C' Buoy. The tasks include: - Providing undocking and river transit support for MTS 626. - Identifying a docking pilot at least one month prior to arrival for berthing at NPTU Pier X-Ray North. - Transiting MTS 626 approximately 32 nautical miles down the Cooper River and through Charleston Harbor to Charleston 'C' Buoy. - Ensuring harbor tug services are available for a minimum of four hours, potentially extending up to eight hours during the operation. - Conducting security inspections of harbor tugs as directed by NPTU's Commanding Officer (CO). - Arranging layberth availability for security inspections and loading equipment onto the ocean tow vessel. - Providing necessary harbor pilots and docking pilot services as required.
