Background The Department of State Hospitals (DSH) is seeking bids for Medical Waste Disposal Services under IFB Number 26-20019-000. The goal of this contract is to ensure the safe and compliant disposal of medical waste, which includes biohazardous materials, sharps, non-hazardous and hazardous RCRA pharmaceutical waste, and trace chemotherapy waste. This initiative aligns with DSH's mission to provide quality healthcare while ensuring public safety and environmental protection. Work Details The contractor shall provide all necessary personnel, labor, tools, supplies, materials, equipment, insurance, licenses, and a properly equipped service vehicle to perform medical waste pickup, transport, and disposal services. The services include: 1. Pickup and disposal of biohazardous/sharps waste (400 pounds weekly). 2. Pickup and disposal of non-hazardous pharmaceutical waste (50 pounds weekly). 3. Pickup and disposal of hazardous RCRA pharmaceutical waste (100 pounds weekly). 4. Pickup and disposal of chemotherapy waste (10 pounds weekly). 5. Additional fees including a manifest fee charged monthly. Period of Performance The anticipated term for the agreement is from July 1, 2026, through June 30, 2029. Place of Performance The services will be performed at various locations as designated by the Department of State Hospitals in California. Bidder Requirements Bidders must submit proof of their legal right to do business in California including a business license and any DBA documentation. They must also provide evidence of Hazardous Waste Transporter Registration from the California Department of Toxic Substances Control, an EPA ID Number, a Medical Waste Offsite Transfer Station Permit from the California Department of Public Health, a Weighmaster License from the California Department of Food and Agriculture, a Motor Carrier Permit from the DMV, and any applicable County Permits.
