AK-KENAI NWR-HQ FIBER OPTIC INSTALL

Summary (Newest Update)

Background The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service (USFWS) Kenai National Wildlife Refuge (NWR) is seeking a vendor to provide a standards-compliant, maintainable, and test-verified fiber optic cable between existing Alaska Communications system (ACS) infrastructure and the USFWS Headquarters at Kenai National Wildlife Refuge (KNWR). This project aims to support current and future telecommunications needs. Work Details The scope of work includes the installation of approximately 6,400 feet of single-mode fiber-optic cabling outside of the ACS-owned duct, starting from the existing ACS terminus point near Funny River Road and Ski Hill Road in Soldotna, Alaska, extending south to the KNWR Headquarters building. The work involves installation, splicing, testing, documentation, and delivery of the fiber optic cabling. It includes all terminations at the KNWR Headquarters building and connection to existing fiber optic wiring per project specifications. The contractor is responsible for verifying length and route of all fiber installations outside the ACS-owned duct, trenching, cutting asphalt pavement, backfill, compaction, work area restoration, NEC-compliant building entry, firestopping, labeling, and termination at the KNWR Headquarters building. Additionally, there is an option for installing approximately 1,600 feet of fiber-optic cable within the existing ACS-owned duct as an alternative to trenching. All work must comply with TIA premises and OSP practices, NEC Article 770 and Chapter 8 communications rules, as well as NESC work rules/clearances for OSP construction. Period of Performance Work shall be completed 180 days after receipt of Notice to Proceed. Place of Performance The construction projects will be performed in Soldotna, Alaska.
