Summary
The Town of Fairfield (Owner) is requesting bids for the following 2026 Paving Project: Paving on North Road & Intersection of Chester A. Arthur Rd. All sealed bids will be opened publicly and reviewed, on May 11, 2026 at the Town of Fairfield's 7:00 p.m Selectboard Meeting. The Selectboard will award the final contract (project 1 or 2) when notified by VTRANS of grant status. This Contract will be for EITHER project option 1 OR project option 2, described below. PLEASE PROVIDE AN ESTIMATE FOR BOTH PROJECTS, knowing that only one project will be chosen for the contract. For each project, the following should be included: Total tons of of type IV; Total tons of Type III; Estimated total quantity; Unit price for each road; and the Total Bid Price.
PROJECT OPTION 1 INCLUDES THE FOLLOWING WORK
a) North Road: Machine pave with new asphalt, starting at the intersection of route 36 and continuing about 4940 feet x 24' wide. Shim with 3/4 levelling course and 1.5 wearing course, all type 4. b) Chester A Arthur Road: Full intersection to beginning of previous years' paving, (about 230 feet from the end of the road-just after the first driveway on the right) shim with 3/4 levelling course and 1.5 wearing course, all type 4. PROJECT OPTION 2 INCLUDES THE FOLLOWING WORK, ASSUMING GRANT FUNDS ARE RECEIVED: a) North Road: Machine pave with new asphalt, starting at the intersection of route 36 and continuing about 10,200 feet x 24' wide. Shim with 3/4 levelling course and 1.5 wearing course, all type 4. b) Chester A Arthur Road: Full intersection to beginning of prev. paving, (about 235 feet from the end of the road-just after the first driveway on the right) shim with 3/4 levelling course and 1.5 wearing course, all type 4. Final completion of the chosen Paving Project option, by September 30, 2024. Place of Performance The work will be performed in Fairfield, Vermont, specifically on North Road and Chester A. Arthur Road. Bidder Requirements Bidders must provide satisfactory evidence of insurance prior to award including Contractor’s Liability Insurance and Worker’s Compensation in compliance with Vermont statutory limits. Additionally, bidders must have General Public Liability and Property Damage Insurance with coverage limits of not less than $1,000,000 for bodily injury and $200,000 for property damage. Contractors are also required to provide adequate transitions to match intersecting roadways and driveways.
