Background The Health Effects Laboratory Division operates a shared imaging facility that houses the Hitachi S4800I field-emission scanning electron microscope (FE-SEM), which is essential for various research projects. This instrument is utilized by researchers to produce images for high-impact journal manuscripts, highlighting its importance in the division and collaborative institutions. The contract aims to ensure the microscope remains operational and well-maintained. Work Details The contractor will perform preventive maintenance, calibrate, and adjust components of the Hitachi S4800I FE-SEM. They will provide unlimited technical support via phone for minor issues and onsite troubleshooting for more complex problems. Service engineers are required to make one onsite preventive maintenance service call each year, with a response time of 48 hours for any issues. The contractor will also replace components that show normal wear and tear or are defective under the terms of the contract. Deliverables include complete service reports for preventive maintenance and repairs, which must be submitted electronically within 5 business days after each visit.
