Permanent Public Art at Reno-Tahoe International Airport

Background

The Reno-Tahoe Airport Authority (RTAA) Arts at the Airport Program is seeking to enhance the aesthetic and cultural value of the Reno-Tahoe International Airport (RNO) by commissioning a professional visual artist or artist team to create a permanent public mural. This initiative aims to integrate art into the airport environment, specifically within the Police Training Room at the new Airport Authority Headquarters & Police Station building. This contributes to the airport's mission of providing a welcoming and engaging atmosphere for travelers and staff.

Work Details

The selected artist or artist team will create a site-specific mural that is thematic and public-facing, intended for display on an interior wall of the Police Training Room. The mural must measure 36 feet 6 inches wide by 10 feet tall (36'6" W x 10' H). The artwork will become part of the permanent collection at the airport, reflecting the community's identity and values.

Period of Performance

The application period opens on April 17, 2026, with a response deadline set for June 17, 2026, at 2:00 PM PT.

Place of Performance

The mural will be installed inside the Police Training Room at the new Airport Authority Headquarters & Police Station located on Reno-Tahoe International Airport property in Reno, Nevada.

Bidder Requirements

Eligibility is limited to local artists as specified in Section 10 of the RFP document available on CallforEntry.org. The budget for this project is capped at $20,000.
