Background The contract is issued by the United States Army Corps of Engineers for the installation of a self-contained flush vault restroom at the Gull Lake Recreation Area, which is a heavily utilized multi-purpose recreation area located 8 miles north of Baxter, MN. The area includes various facilities such as a campground, boat ramp, swim beach, fishing piers, and multiple restroom facilities. The goal of the contract is to replace an existing vault toilet with a new restroom model that complies with local, county, and state codes. Work Details The contractor is responsible for supplying all equipment, labor, permits, and materials necessary to remove the existing vault toilet building and install a new Green Flush Arapahoe Model self-contained flush vault restroom. Key tasks include: 1. Removal of Existing Vault and Building: Emptying the existing vault (approximately 10,000-gallon capacity) and removing associated structures including the building (26-feet long x 12-feet wide), concrete pad, apron, and sidewalk while minimizing ground disturbance. 2. Disposal: All removed materials must be disposed of offsite in accordance with local, county, and state regulations. 3. Utility Lines: Installation of water and electrical components according to codes; connecting the restroom to pressurized potable water by installing approximately 45 linear feet of water line and ensuring electrical service continuity during construction. 4. Site Preparation: Preparing the site according to manufacturer recommendations including filling voids from the previous restroom’s footprint and ensuring proper drainage. 5. Aggregate Base: Installing a minimum of 6-inches of compacted MnDOT Class 5 aggregate base for concrete sidewalk and apron areas extending beyond proposed areas by at least 6 inches in each direction.
