Background The Wilmington VA Medical Center (VAMC) is issuing this contract to refurbish the Four East Showers, which are located within an active inpatient unit for Veterans. The goal of this contract is to provide professional construction services that ensure the safety and comfort of the Veterans while adhering to strict infection control protocols. This procurement is a 100% Service Disabled Veteran Owned Small Business (SDVOSB) set-aside acquisition. Work Details The scope of work includes providing all labor, materials, and equipment necessary for refurbishing and restoring thirteen existing shower bases in the 4 East inpatient unit. Key tasks include: 1. Pre-Work Inspection: Assessing shower bases for damage and notifying the VA COR of any additional repairs needed. 2. Preparation & Protection: Installing Infection Control Risk Assessment (ICRA) barriers, providing negative air machines with HEPA filtration, and protecting adjacent areas. 3. Surface Preparation: Cleaning and mechanically preparing shower bases for resurfacing. 4. Refurbishment/Re-Coating System: Applying a VA-approved low VOC high wear urethane coating that is chemical-resistant and designed for hospital-grade cleaning agents. 5. Cure Time & Return to Service: Following manufacturer cure times before returning units to service after final inspection by VA COR. 6. Final Cleaning: Removing barriers and debris, restoring areas to original condition. 7. Phasing Requirements: Performing work in one room at a time or in small groups to minimize disruption to Veterans.
