Background The University of California, Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory (LBNL) is seeking proposals for two Sub-Harmonic Buncher (SHB) pulsed Radio Frequency (RF) High Power Amplifiers (HPA) to enhance the performance of their LINAC system in the Advanced Light Source (ALS). This request is governed by procurement policies under the University’s Prime Contract with the U.S. Government, represented by the Department of Energy (DOE). The goal is to replace existing tube-based amplifiers with solid-state amplifiers to improve performance, reliability, and serviceability. Work Details The contract involves the delivery of two 25 kW pulsed high-power solid-state amplifiers: one unit operating at 125 MHz and another at 500 MHz. These amplifiers will drive the sub-harmonic buncher cavities in the ALS LINAC system.
