Background The Northern Rockies Major Acquisition Buying Office is planning to issue a Request for Proposal for the remodel of the Visitor Center at Golden Spike National Historic Site. The goal of this contract is to enhance the visitor experience through modifications and updates to the existing facilities, which include offices, exhibit space, and retail areas. This project aligns with the mission of the National Park Service to preserve and interpret the historical significance of the site. Work Details The work involves modifications and alterations of a 4,500 square foot visitor center. Key tasks include: 1) Modifying the north view plaza access to accommodate an expanded building footprint; 2) Making exhibit modifications and constructing new exhibits; 3) Relocating WNPA retail space and NPS offices; 4) Renovating an A/V storage closet; 5) Updating finishes throughout the main visitor area; 6) Expanding the building size by enclosing the north porch and providing a new exterior wall; 7) Reworking existing HVAC systems to fit the revised layout, including removal and replacement of ductwork; 8) Concealing visible fire protection systems in renovated areas; 9) Reworking electrical systems (power and lighting) to support new exhibits and AV upgrades.
