Background The Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) is seeking to modernize generators at the Sparks M. Matsunaga VA Medical Center located in Honolulu, HI. This project aims to address site deficiencies and improve the operational capabilities of the facility's generator systems. The contract is set aside for certified service-disabled veteran-owned small business concerns, emphasizing the VA's commitment to supporting veteran entrepreneurs. Work Details The contractor will be responsible for providing all materials, labor, tools, equipment, transportation, expertise, supervision, and administration necessary for the completion of the project. Key tasks include: - Demolishing and replacing the existing exterior generator pad at E Wing building T-1 with a new pad that includes a 3-foot extension; - Installing underground electrical feeders consisting of multiple PVC conduits; - Abandoning unusable existing conduits and routing new concrete-encased conduits from the generator room to an exterior fuel tank; - Restoring disturbed landscaping and hard surfaces to their original or better condition; - Ensuring compliance with VA standards for earthwork and trenching. The project will also involve limited site grading and restoration of pavement sections as necessary. Period of Performance The contractor shall begin performance within 10 calendar days after receiving the award notice to proceed and is expected to complete the work within 240 calendar days.
