Summary (Newest Update)

Background The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Airport Technology Research & Development (ATR) Pavement Research Program (ANG-E262) operates two full-scale pavement testing facilities and multiple supporting laboratories and field sites. The FAA has developed guidelines and a framework for conducting Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) studies for airfield infrastructure, focusing on pavement at major airfields. This contract aims to enhance FAALCAn, a web-based LCA tool that quantifies energy use, local aggregate resource consumption, and environmental impacts from pavement construction, rehabilitation, maintenance, and end-of-life stages. Work Details The contractor must provide all necessary personnel, technical expertise, operations, administrative support, and other resources required to fulfill the tasks outlined in the Statement of Objectives (SOO). The specific tasks include: 1. Expanding FAALCAn’s reporting capabilities to track domestic aggregate resource use and recycled material consumption. 2. Integrating FAARFIELD (FAA’s airport pavement thickness design software), AIRCOST (Life Cycle Cost Analysis tool), and FAALCAn to automate data exchange without manual input. This integration will enhance data accuracy and efficiency in assessing energy consumption and material resource usage. Place of Performance The geographic location(s) for the performance of this contract have not been specified.
