Background The Providence Public School District (PPSD) serves approximately 22,000 students across 37 schools, employing over 3,200 professionals. The district aims to provide comprehensive nursing services to support the health needs of its diverse student population, which includes a significant number of multilingual learners and students requiring special education services. The goal of this contract is to secure Pediatric Physician/Consultant services for the Health Office from fiscal years 2027 to 2029. Work Details The contractor will provide nursing services that include: - Maintaining compliance with Department of Health guidelines - Acting as a liaison between children and healthcare resources - Administering first aid and medication - Conducting health screenings - Maintaining health records - Assessing student safety - Implementing healthcare plans for chronic conditions - Attending relevant meetings regarding student health needs - Communicating with parents - Completing monthly reports for the Health Administrator - Covering emergencies at other schools if necessary - Promoting a healthy environment. Services will be provided to K-12 students in various elementary, middle, and high schools in Providence. Period of Performance The contract will commence on July 1, 2026, and continue through June 30, 2029. The initial service period is one year with options for two additional years. Place of Performance Services will be performed at various locations within Providence County, Rhode Island. Bidder Requirements Bidders must have staff who are fully certified as School Nurse Teachers or Registered Nurses by appropriate agencies. They must also be certified in CPR and AED and have experience working with medically fragile children. Additionally, bidders must ensure that nurses are familiar with medical procedures used in schools and maintain communication with the Director of Nursing regarding absences.
