Summary (Newest Update)

Background This construction requirement is issued by the United States Air Force for the repair of Variable Air Volume (VAV) systems in Building 1122 at Shaw Air Force Base, South Carolina. The mission is to restore proper airflow to the building's HVAC system, which has been compromised due to clogged coils and airway passages. The goal of the contract is to clean the VAVs to achieve original design airflow specifications. Work Details The contractor will perform the following tasks: 1. Conduct a pre-construction test and balance (TAB) on all air handling units (AHUs) and VAV boxes throughout Building 1122, with data and reports submitted to the government. 2. Ensure that the HVAC system remains operational during the contract period, with only one or two VAVs offline at any time. 3. Clean all VAVs, including coils and airway passages, by disconnecting and removing them from the system for thorough cleaning. 4. Install access panels on all VAVs for maintenance and cleaning purposes, ensuring that these panels allow for coil removal without needing to remove the entire VAV from the system and are properly sealed to prevent air leakage during operation. Shop drawings for panel installation must be submitted for approval. 5. Flush all chilled water and hot water lines in the building to ensure proper flow according to as-built plans. 6. Install side stream filters on both chilled water and hot water pumps for continuous cleaning of their respective systems while they operate. 7. Perform a second TAB after cleaning is complete and all water lines have been flushed, balancing the system to match as-built drawings. Place of Performance The construction projects will be performed at Shaw Air Force Base, located at 1122 Rhodes Ave, Shaw AFB, SC 29152.
