Summary (Newest Update)

Background This Request for Information (RFI) is issued by the 772 ESS/PKD at Tyndall Air Force Base, seeking feedback on a proposed brand-name Class Justification and Approval (J&A) for the standardization of Facility Generators and their associated components. The goal is to allow each USAF installation, both within and outside the Contiguous United States, to select a standard brand of generator based on their existing inventory when new or replacement generators are needed. The current brand-name Generator Class J&A was approved in December 2021 for five years, and the USAF intends to renew it for another five years (FY27 through FY32) to support standardization through natural attrition. Work Details The RFI seeks information regarding the standardization of Facility Generators and associated components. The USAF installations will continue to procure new/replacement generators from local dealers that supply these standard brands. The RFI includes questions for industry feedback, such as: 1. Does your company identify as a Generator manufacturer, a supplier, or both? 2. Discuss any questions or comments about the proposed Class J&A. 3. Does your company maintain data on generator sales (both complete systems and parts) to the U.S. Air Force or other federal agencies? 4. If yes to question (3), are you able to share this data? 5. For proprietary diagnostic software required for maintenance, what is the access level provided to government personnel? 6. Describe any available volume discounts for OEM approved training for government technicians. 7. Do you have processes that increase parts availability or timely repairs? 8. Do you have data suggesting that generator standardization is no longer the best practice for reducing lifecycle costs? Place of Performance Tyndall Air Force Base and various USAF installations within and outside the Contiguous United States.
