Background The Allegheny National Forest, managed by the US Department of Agriculture (USDA), is seeking to restore and maintain the drivability, drainage, and safety of designated Forest Service roads. This project supports essential activities such as forest management, fire access, recreation, and administrative use. The maintenance operations are crucial for ensuring that the roads remain accessible and safe for various users. Work Details The contractor will be responsible for providing all necessary equipment, labor, materials, tools, and other incidentals to perform road maintenance on designated National Forest roads. The work includes routine maintenance activities typically associated with gravel and native-surfaced roads. Specific tasks include surface grading to restore road conditions. Multiple crews are required to operate simultaneously across both the West Zone and East Zone of the forest to maximize efficiency and reduce project duration. Maintenance will cover road lengths varying from 0.1 mile to 12 miles, with different types of surfacing possible on any given road. All work must adhere to the Standard Specification for Roads and Bridges on Federal Highway Projects FP-14 and the Forest Service Supplemental Specifications (FSSS). Additionally, contractors must ensure proper traffic control measures are in place during operations. Place of Performance The maintenance operations will take place within the Allegheny National Forest located in Warren, McKean, Elk, and Forest Counties of Pennsylvania.
