Summary (Newest Update)

Background The project, WA FLAP JEFFER 134309(2), involves the replacement of a culvert at Mile Post (MP) 0.51 on Oil City Road in Jefferson County, Washington. The primary goal is to enhance fish passage and habitat while ensuring a long-term, reliable structure for the roadway above. This initiative is supported by a preliminary engineering study led by KPFF Consulting Engineers for the Coast Salmon Foundation. Work Details The scope of work includes: replacing the existing twin 48-inch CMP culverts with a single-span concrete bridge that is 80 feet long and pile-supported. Construction activities will primarily occur south of and adjacent to the existing road alignment to maintain traffic flow during construction. The sequence of construction will involve building the new bridge first, followed by the removal of the existing culvert and roadway embankment. Then, stream channel improvements along with bridge scour protection elements will be constructed. Cast-in-place concrete wingwalls will be utilized to transition grades and support the roadway embankment at both abutments. The design and construction will adhere to AASHTO LRFD Bridge Design Specifications and/or the Washington State Department of Transportation Bridge Design Manual. Place of Performance The construction projects will be performed in Jefferson County, Washington.
