Background The Department of Veterans Affairs (VA), VISN 15 Network Contracting Office, is seeking sources to provide Bar Code Medication Administration (BCMA) carts for the Harry S. Truman Memorial Veterans’ Hospital. The BCMA system is a crucial patient safety tool designed to ensure accurate medication dispensing for veterans, initiated by the VISN 15 Heartland Network and developed by the Veterans Health Administration (VHA). This system is utilized in all inpatient care and some outpatient areas to guarantee that the right veteran receives the correct medication at the appropriate time and dosage, with accurate documentation of administration. Work Details The requirement includes the purchase of 37 BCMA carts as integrated units. Specifically, this includes: - 30 carts equipped with mounts for PIV reader, antenna, integration kit, electronic signature pad, cup dispenser, sani-wipe holders, sharps holders, and an additional scanner with each cart. - 7 carts without cup holders, sani-wipe holders, sharps holders, or additional scanners. Minimum requirements for the BCMA carts include: - Mobile and height-adjustable design with locking casters for secure positioning. - Durable, medical-grade construction suitable for continuous use in high-volume hospital settings.
