The Ottawa National Forest aims to manage its forest resources sustainably while ensuring compliance with environmental regulations. Work Details The contractor will perform timber marking and volume estimation across approximately 375 acres, focusing on Northern Hardwoods & Aspen forest types. Specific tasks include: 1. Hardwood Single-Tree Selection (uneven-age) marking and cruising over approximately 374 acres, targeting high-risk or defective trees while maintaining size class structure; 2. Clearcut/Removal Cut for approximately 1 acre where all trees meeting specifications are designated for removal except for reserve trees; 3. Application of the Sample Tree Cruising Method (STR) across all payment units, requiring each tree included for removal to be marked and counted; 4. GPS tracking of sample trees with digital submission of locations; 5. Compliance with the Ottawa National Forest's Timber Theft Prevention Plan, including reconciling paint cans within specified timelines; 6. Use of government-furnished property such as tree marking paint and cruise tally cards. Period of Performance The contract is expected to commence upon award and will continue until November 30, 2026, allowing work to be conducted during both summer and winter months, subject to weather conditions. Place of Performance The work will be performed in the Platypus timber sale area located within Gogebic County on the Ottawa National Forest, specifically in T46N R42W, Sections 19 & 30 & T46N R43W, Sections 24-25.
